Le triple vainqueur de la Premier League a passé du temps avec le club depuis décembre à titre non officiel alors qu’il travaillait pour sa licence A de l’UEFA. Yaya Touré a terminé son cours d’entraîneur avec l’Association Galloise de Football plus tôt cet été et aura désormais son propre groupe d’âge pour entraîner chez Spurs.

Le joueur de 39 ans qui n’a plus joué au niveau professionnel depuis un passage avec le club chinois Qingdao Huanghai en 2019, mais qui s’est entraîné avec le club Sky Bet League Two Leyton Orient brièvement avant la campagne 2020-21, va donc mettre en valeur son diplôme.
Alors que Touré, le frère cadet de l’ancien défenseur d’Arsenal et actuel entraîneur de l’équipe première de Leicester Kolo Touré, n’a jamais annoncé sa retraite, il a depuis longtemps l’ambition de devenir entraîneur comme son frère.
Un bref passage avec QPR aux côtés de Chris Ramsey au début de 2021 a permis à l’ancien international ivoirien de prendre goût à la vie sur la ligne de touche, ce qui a agi comme un catalyseur pour son premier emploi après avoir joué.
De retour à Londres avec sa famille, l’ancien as de Barcelone a commencé à aider à l’académie de Tottenham en décembre avec les moins de 18 ans alors qu’il travaillait pour sa licence A de l’UEFA et a suffisamment impressionné pour gagner un rôle à plein temps en tant qu’entraîneur de l’académie. Touré travaillera avec son propre groupe d’âge chez les Spurs et pourrait être rejoint à la base d’entraînement d’Enfield du club par l’ancien attaquant Jermain Defoe, qui devrait poursuivre son développement d’entraîneur au domicile de son ancienne équipe.
